Recaș is a town in Timiș County, Banat, Romania.
The first record of the settlement comes from the medieval chronicles in 1359 mentioned as Rykas. Over time, Recaș was first a feudal domain, fortress and fair. Also Recaş was administered by the Turkish, Austrian, Hungarian and Romanian states. From 1784 to 1786, as part of the colonization of the Banat, German colonists began to establish in Recaș.
Located on sunny hills, with a temperate continental climate, Recaş is the ideal place for viticulture. The town is famous for its rich production of wine.
Recaș is situated at a distance of 21 km from Timisoara and 37 km from Lugoj, on the national road DN6 (European E70). The city has access to Timisoara airport, located 20 km away.
